Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Everything except cloud backup, restoring to a new device, and submitting community routes works without signing in.

How do I move my hills to a new phone?

Sign in on the old phone and turn on cloud backup, then sign in with the same account on the new one — it will offer to restore. Without a backup there is no way to recover data from a phone you no longer have, so it’s worth doing before you upgrade.

My GPS track stopped recording when the screen went off

Recording needs background location permission, and on many Android phones it also needs battery optimisation turned off for BaggedIt. Both live in your system settings under the app’s permissions. Manufacturer battery savers — particularly on Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Huawei — are the usual culprit.

Can I use the map with no signal?

Yes, if you download an offline map pack for the area before you set off. Do it on wi-fi — packs can be large.

Can I import a route from another app?

Yes. Open any GPX file on your phone and choose BaggedIt, or import one from within the route builder.

How do I delete my account and my data?

In the app, go to Settings and choose to delete your account. You will be asked to sign in again to confirm, then everything stored in the cloud for your account is removed. Data held only on your phone goes when you uninstall the app.

Something in the hill data looks wrong

Please tell us — heights, names and classifications all get revised, and corrections are welcome. Email the hill name and what looks off.

A reminder about safety

BaggedIt helps you plan and log walks. It is not a navigation system. Carry a map and compass, know how to use them, and check the forecast and conditions before you go.
